Employee Spotlight: Stacy Barron
With her background in accounting, Stacy Barron knows how important it is to dot your i’s and cross your t’s. That’s what makes her so successful in her current role as project manager with The Elevated Cab, where she ensures work is completed on time and on budget. We recently asked Stacy to share some thoughts about her job, her hobbies and her interests so we could get to know her a little better.
1. How long have you been with The Elevated Cab, and what drew you here?
My time with APEX Group actually started in March of 2020 when I joined Corporate Floors. I was hired as a project coordinator with an emphasis in the accounting department. I was previously a project accountant, so this was a great opportunity to get involved and learn the different aspects of project management. During my time in the accounting department, I was able to expand my knowledge and become a subject-matter expert on certified payroll, insurance and subcontractor requirements. All this experience has greatly contributed to my current role as a project manager for The Elevated Cab, where I have been since September 2022.
2. What do you like most about your job?
What I like most about my job is that every day there is a new challenge. No two days are ever the same. There are so many moving parts to project management, and it’s a constant balance to keep every job on track. I strive to make the most of every day by keeping very organized, practicing open communication, and staying within budget.
3. What would you be doing for a career if you weren’t doing this?
I’d be a professional soccer player! I grew up playing club soccer, where we practiced up to four times a week and traveled all around to compete in tournaments. I finished out my soccer career playing coed for fun with my friends. I cannot wait for 2026 when Dallas will be a host city for the next World Cup!
4. Where did you grow up?
I was born in Texas, but my parents were both from South Dakota. Before I was old enough to start school we moved there to be closer to family. I have a younger brother, and we are at least better friends now than we were growing up! I graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls and continued on to college at the University of South Dakota, where I received a business degree. I had a great career with a major credit card company for almost 10 years until they decided to outsource my department. The uncertainty in my life at the time made me decide it was time to leave the cold and finally come back to Texas, where I always dreamed of living. I sold everything and could not be more proud to reflect on how far I have come in the five years since I moved here.
5. How do you spend your time off?
I enjoy spending my time relaxing in the pool, hanging out on a beach, or traveling as much as I can in between being a pretty cool mom to my sons, who are 17 and 11.
6. Are you currently binge-watching any shows, and if so, which ones?
I enjoy watching “90 Day Fiance.” Every person in the cast is quite a character, and every choice they make is so intriguing. There are so many factors like age, culture and religion that affect their decisions, and I am constantly left wondering why they do what they do.
7. What is your favorite vacation spot (and why)?
I have traveled to 24 states, been to every coast, and visited two countries. I believe I may not have found my favorite vacation spot yet, but I guarantee it will be somewhere very hot on a beach!
8. If you won the lottery, what’s the first thing you would do?
Travel the world! Ever since I was young, I have had a goal to one day leave home going west and come back from the east.
9. What is your greatest fear (and why)?
To not live every day to the fullest. You need to make sure the people who mean the most to you know and hear it from you. It could be the last conversation you ever will have with them.
10. What one piece of advice would you give your younger self?
Follow your dreams. Do what makes you happy and keeps you motivated to make the best of each day. Life is too short, so enjoy it while you have it!
