Meet the Team: Jenny Phillips
Jenny Phillips joined The Elevated Cab as national OEM sales director in July 2022. Jenny has more than 15 years’ experience in the elevator industry, having helped countless clients find the perfect elevator solution for their facilities. In her new role, she will be integral to the launch of S.M.A.R.T. Line, the company’s new line of modular, direct-ship elevator cabs.
“Jenny’s experience, energy and enthusiasm make her the perfect person to lead the introduction of our stress-free, easy-to-install elevator cabs,” said Jon Whaley, general manager of The Elevated Cab. “I’m already looking forward to celebrating her many successes in the months and years to come.”
We sat down with Jenny to welcome her to the team and learn more about her, both personally and professionally.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a born and raised Texas girl who started in Dallas and traveled across the state for school. After I completed college at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, I returned to my family and hometown in Dallas. Fast forward a few years and I went on a blind date, fell in love, and have never looked back! We have three kids, 15, 13 and 10, and they keep us very busy with football, volleyball and soccer almost every weekend.
2. Why did you decide to join The Elevated Cab?
I already knew a few people who work for APEX Group, and they love it. After speaking with Jon Whaley and Carol Gray about the position, I found that their enthusiasm and passion are second to none. I also have had the pleasure of knowing Carol for most of my career, and if ever there was a person to train and learn from about elevator interiors, it is “the Elevator Lady” herself! After finding out that APEX Group is a Certified B Corporation, I felt really comfortable with my decision to join the team. Serving my community is very high on my priority list, and so often employers only talk about giving back. APEX Group really does.
3. How has your past experience prepared you for your new role?
I have spent most of my career in the elevator industry, providing real estate managers with service, repair and modernization options for their equipment. As part of The Elevated Cab team, I’ll be introducing a new product line to the OEMs of elevator equipment. Having come from their world, I believe we will be able to show them why our new S.M.A.R.T. Line cab interiors are a great match for their needs and their real estate clients’ needs.
4. What are your hobbies?
Anything sports related! I used to be an avid runner and lived for 5Ks, 10Ks and half marathons. As my children got older and started to participate in sports themselves, I began running less and now consider myself more of a sports enthusiast for their sports. When I’m not going to practice or a game, I love to swim and read.
5. What's the most interesting article or book you've read lately?
I read Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens over the summer, and I thought it was a great story and enjoyed it very much. I was surprised to find out that it was about to come out as a movie right when I was finishing up, so I can’t wait to see if they do as good a job with the details as the book!
6. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I could eat traditional Italian-style pizza, or pizza napoletana, which was my favorite food in Italy. I was able to spend 10 days there, and I don’t think a day went by that I didn’t try a different pizza.
7. What’s on your bucket list?
I have several places I’d like to visit and sights I’d like to see, like the pyramids in Egypt and the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Closer to home, I’d like to go skydiving—but I’m just not ready yet!
